The Hinesville Police Department recently launched a service that makes accident reports available online.

"Any time you get into a car accident, the responding police officer generates an accident report that includes a case number, the party’s involved, the location and the date and time the accident occurred," HPD Lt. Bill Kirkendall said. "The new online system makes the process of obtaining the accident report a lot more convenient by making it available online."

The Georgia Electronic Accident Reporting System has been in place at HPD for a month and is free to law-enforcement agencies.

"Through using the state-approved software, accident reporting is streamlined and the reports are automatically sent to the state following approval by the police department," Kirkendall said.

Accident reports may be downloaded at buycrash.com for $11. Accident reports may still be picked up in-person at the department for free.
