Accused killer denied bond

Accused murderer Jason Howard went before Liberty County Superior Court Judge Paul Rose in a bond hearing Monday morning at the Liberty County Jail.
Howard, represented by public defender Brett Williams, showed no emotions as he listened to prosecutors lay the case against him, alleging he killed his mother and stepfather, Mildred Jewel Cleveland, in their Gum Branch home in March 2004.
The state asked Rose
to deny bond, fearing Howard, a fugitive for five years, was a flight risk and could harm others. They presented testimony indicating the gruesome nature of his crime.
Rose denied bond.
