Crimes reported to the Hinesville Police Department recently included:
Aug. 31
• Police found contraband associated with marijuana use after conducting a traffic stop at Pineland Avenue and Wildwood Drive. The driver and passengers of a vehicle reportedly behaved suspiciously, and a K-9 hit on the vehicle. Officers found a pipe with residue consistent with burnt marijuana.
Sept. 1
• Two homes on Brett Drive were burglarized. One resident reported his military gear and a brand-new Apple computer, valued at $8,700, were stolen from an adjacent storage closet. Another resident and his roommates reported two televisions, a helmet, clothing, gaming systems, iPad, iPad Touch and DVD player, valued at $3,935, were stolen.
Sept. 2
• A Hinesville man is wanted for theft by receiving stolen property and obstructing officers after he was pulled over in a vehicle with a tag that belonged to another vehicle and a VIN registered to a different owner. The man told police the vehicle was purchased by a friend and the tag came from a vehicle owned by his wife. Further investigation revealed the owner was not related to the subject.
