A brazen thief did the unthinkable, stealing a small safe box from a local church. The theft occurred just before midnight on Sept. 19 at the Baconton Baptist Church in Allenhurst.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft, which unfortunately for the alleged suspect, was caught on tape.

But, so far, no leads have led to the apprehension of a suspect.

Det. Julie Hibbeler said the sheriff’s office is releasing a video of the suspect in the hopes someone may recognize the man.

Detectives also captured still shots from the video in the hopes he might be identified.
