A single-vehicle wreck left the driver injured and knocked out power in the Lake George area.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Robert Balkcom said a 19-year-old man driving a 2000 Honda Accord struck a utility pole after losing control of the car around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Balkcom said the driver was traveling westbound on Limerick Road when he began to feel the vehicle shake. The car ran off the road, breaking the power pole and causing an outage in the area. The car continued on until it struck a tree.
The teen was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
Coastal Electric Cooperative spokesman Mark Bolton said 1,165 customers lost power briefly. All but one had power restored.
The one remaining customer without power is the house near where the accident occurred. Crews were working to reframe a new pole and install a new transformer, Bolton said.
