A man wearing a military uniform was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Long County early this morning, authorities report.
Ludowici/Long County Fire Department Assistant Chief Richard Truman said that at about 6:30 a.m. the man's car ran into the driver's side of a Tattnall County school bus at the intersection of Highway 144 and Joe Kennedy Road. The car burst into flames under the bus.
He said there were no children on the bus and the bus driver was not hurt.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Thornell King said the car was a Nissan Altima, and the driver was wearing a military uniform, though it has not been confirmed whether the driver was a soldier. Truman said the scene was turned over to the Fort Stewart Fire Department and the Georgia State patrol for investigation.
Fort Stewart Public Affairs Office also could not confirm whether the driver was a soldier.
