Long County and Gum Branch firefighters fought a structure fire Monday at Diggers Farm on Marcus Nobles Road.

According to Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Capt. Gary Fairchild said the fire was called in to 911 around 2 p.m.

Fairchild said the occupant of the home, a middle-aged male, was working across the street from his home when he saw someone stop in front of his residence and saw flames and smoke coming from the rear of the mobile home, where the bedroom was located.

When firefighters arrived, portions of the home were engulfed in flames. The firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly, Fairchild said.

Portions of the home sustained smoke and water damage.  No injuries were reported.
