A Long County fugitive who had been on the loose for more than a month was apprehended Thursday.
According to Ludowici Police Department Investigator Diannia Duncan, she received a call at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday from a family member of Derrick Davis, 17. The caller said Davis was prepared to turn himself into authorities. Duncan went to Davis’ grandmother’s house in Ludowici where he surrendered to the investigator.
Authorities had been looking for Davis since early December when the LPD and the Long County Sheriff’s Office named him as a suspect in break-ins on Cottage Street in October and on Arnold Drive in December.
Duncan said Davis was arrested and charged with burglary, armed robbery, false imprisonment of a person and using a weapon during the commission of a crime.
LCSO Investigator Tom Sollosi said Davis also will be charged by the county with armed robbery.
Davis is incarcerated in the Ludowici Police Department Jail.
