Heat advisory issued for area
weathermap
This National Weather Service map shows the area covered by the heat advisory, while most of the rest of the state has scattered thunderstorms.

A heat advisory is in effect from noon until 8 this evening for 11 counties in southeast Georgia, including Liberty, Bryan and Long, according to Liberty County EMS Director Mike Hodges.
High temperatures coupled with high humidity will produce heat indices of 105 to 110 degrees. The highest heat indices will occur between before 6.
The safety specialist recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room and out of the sun if possible. Be sure to check on neighbors or relatives who may be at risk. Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning and evening, and wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. To reduce risk during outdoor work, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Call 911 if heat stroke is suspected.
