Highway 144 east on Fort Stewart was closed for several hours Wednesday afternoon due to a three-vehicle accident just after 1 p.m. near mile-marker 12. A pickup, a car and a dump truck were involved. Four people were injured, two of whom were taken by life flight to area hospitals. The highway was closed at the entrance to Holbrook Pond and at the intersection of 144 and Old Sunbury Road. Electric lines were down. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
