LUDOWICI — Two men and a woman were recently robbed at gun point during a home invasion in the Rye Patch Area of Long County.
According to Long County Sheriff’s Department Det. Nickey Anderson, on Jan. 16 at about 10:30 p.m., four people from Hinesville entered a home on Dena Circle, assaulting and robbing the residents.
Kyle Jene Segwick, 19, Jessica Chisholm, 18, Matthew Blake McMillian, 26, and a 16-year-old boy have been charged for the crime.
According to Anderson, the victims were Joseph Mills and Scott Bryant, who live at the residence, and Deborah Davis, who was visiting.
Anderson said the victims reported the assailants came into the house uninvited. The men were wearing bandanas and carrying sawed-off shotguns. One of the men woke up Mills, who was asleep on a couch, demanding money.
Mills told them he did not have any money, and the man said, “this is no joke, we will kill you.”
One of the men then hit Mills on the head with a shotgun, Mills said. After this, one of the men grabbed Davis’ cell phone, which was attached to her purse, and three ran out of the home.
According to the detective, Mills, Bryant and Davis then ran outside, and discovered that one tire on each of their vehicles had been cut.
Outside, Mills and Bryant saw one of the men and recognized him.
According to Anderson, after investigating, this person was identified as the juvenile, and the LCSD picked the minor up and detained him for questioning the following day.
Anderson said that after questioning the minor, he admitted involvement and identified Segwick, Chisholm and McMillan as the others involved.
Later that evening, McMillan and Chisholm were found at the Budget Motel in Hinesville, and they were arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Long/Liberty County MACE unit.
Segwick was found at a residence on Kelly Drive in Hinesville, and he too was arrested, with posession of the two shotguns, believed to have been used during the crime.
The three were taken to the sheriff’s department in Ludowici, where each gave statements about the crime.
Anderson said all three were charged with burglary forced entry-residence, criminal attempt (felony) and armed robbery of a residence-gun. Other charges are pending.
