The Hinesville Police Department will have a citizens’ academy starting Aug. 2. The course consists of 10 two-hour sessions and two two-hour ride-along sessions. Classes are from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evenings.
Topics of discussion include department structures and administrative operations, criminal law and investigation, community policing, patrol operations, traffic law and investigations, training, support and law-enforcement communications.
Participants must be citizens of Hinesville, at least 18 years old and have no criminal record. Sign up at the Hinesville Police Department or call 368-8211.
