It appears Tropical Storm Karen will have little effect on Liberty and Long counties.
Tropical Storm Karen is expected to move over southeastern Louisiana Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. If the storm’s track does not change, Karen should move just north of Hinesville and Liberty County, according to Liberty County EMA Director Mike Hodges. Saturday afternoon Hodges said the storm appeared to be weakening and likely would not affect our area until Monday.
“We may have periods of heavy rains and gusty winds but we don’t think it will be anything stronger than that,” he said. Local EMA officials will continue to follow-up on the storm’s track through the weekend.
