Aug. 23: Animal bite — Deputies responded to a Lakeside Way residence where a man was bitten by a squirrel when he tried to free it from a fence it was caught on.

The responding deputy had to kill the squirrel because “it was suffering, and it had lost a lot of blood.”

The complainant reportedly took the squirrel with him to the hospital for testing, and Liberty County Environmental Health was notified.
