Aug. 26: Animal death — A resident in the 300 block of Dogwood Lane in Midway found her cat dead and said she thinks it was killed by one of three pit bulls that roam the area. She said she saw one of the dogs back her cat up under a car and that she saw one of the dogs in her yard earlier in the evening. She said she has had problems with the dogs for the past four months. Liberty County Environmental Health was briefed on the incident.

Entering auto — A walk-in complainant reported that a handgun was stolen from his vehicle sometime between Aug. 19-25. He said he was unsure where the vehicle was when the theft occurred. He said there was no forced entry and nothing else was taken.

Aug. 27

DUI — A Midway man was arrested for DUI on his four-wheeler in Woodland Lakes subdivision between 1-2 a.m. The driver, who had two other males on his vehicle, had difficulty standing, slurred speech and appeared disoriented and confused. He reportedly declined to provide a breath sample and passively resisted many demands for action. He was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail, where he received citations for DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road and open container.

Burglary — A resident in the 800 block of Live Oak Church Road reported that someone broke into her house while she was at work. Deputies found a window on the rear side of the residence had been pried open and the pane cracked. Items missing include an iPad, assorted jewelry and a pistol. The values were not listed.

Entering automobile — Two complainants said their cars were entered in the 200 block of Deer Trail Lane in Midway. One said that two $200 tattoo guns were taken from her car, which has a faulty lock and was not secured. The second woman said items were moved in her unlocked vehicle but that nothing was missing.

Aug. 28

Pedestrian under the influence —A man who had been at the VFW on E.G. Miles Parkway was arrested for public intoxication and criminal trespass after others reported he was seen entering a vehicle, following a woman into the bathroom and grabbing a woman. The man was released to Liberty County Jail and issued a citation for pedestrian under the influence. While in the jail, he said he knew he was drunk but denied entering vehicles.

Burglary — A resident in the 800 block of Briar Bay Road reported that someone had entered the residence and took a television, laptop and watch worth $2,398. Though there were no signs of forced entry, the complainant said one of the windows has a failed lock mechanism and cannot be secured.
