June 25: Disorderly conduct — A deputy was dispatched to the Silver Dollar Lounge in Hinesville, where two employees were fighting. The first employee said that she threw two ashtrays at the second employee because she called her a hateful name but said the ashtrays did not hit the second employee.
The second employee reportedly threw an ashtray at the first employee, striking her on her arm. She showed the deputy a mark. The second employee told the deputy that she only threw the ashtray because the first employee threw two of them at her first. She also denied hitting the first employee and said that the mark on the first employee’s arm was from dancing.
The deputy was unable to see the lounge’s surveillance tapes because the owner was not present.
July 7
• Terroristic threats and acts — A deputy was dispatched to B. Robert Hill Road in Midway after a woman said she received threatening phone calls and text messages from an acquaintance.
The complainant gave the deputy a description of the suspected offender’s vehicle. The deputy, parked down the road from the complainant’s residence, later saw a car matching that vehicle’s description drive down the road toward the complainant’s home. The deputy stopped the car and the suspect was taken into custody.
July 13
• Criminal trespass — A deputy was dispatched to E.G. Miles Parkway in reference to a rental car that was returned damaged. The complainant showed the deputy a cracked windshield and a broken rear-view mirror.
The damage appeared to have been caused from the inside of the car. Authorities could not reach the car’s most-recent renter.
• Possession of a controlled substance, furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcohol — A deputy responded to Cay Creek Road to assist two Department of Natural Resources officers. They told the deputy that they saw four people in a white truck on private property. The truck was not authorized to be on the property.
As a deputy approached, two men began to remove things from their pockets and the truck. The trash thrown out included an empty box labeled “Bud Light,” a dollar bill with white powder on it and a piece of rolled-up paper, also dusted with white powder.
The deputy said the driver smelled of alcohol. He was arrested for underage drinking and criminal trespass. Two of the passengers said they didn’t know anything about the white powder. A search of the two turned up nothing. A search of the third passenger turned up more white powder. He was arrested for possession of cocaine. All four suspects were taken to the Liberty County Jail.
July 14
• DUI — Liberty County 911 told deputies to be on the lookout for a red truck swerving down Highway 196 East. A deputy spotted the truck, stopped it and noticed the driver smelled of alcohol. The driver admitted to drinking earlier that day and agreed to take field sobriety tests and give a breath sample. The sample tested positive, and the driver was arrested.
• Disorderly conduct — Two deputies were dispatched to Robinson Lane in Midway in reference to a disturbance. The complainant said she returned home from visiting a friend and saw a man who she did not know in her living room.
Deputies made contact with the man, who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and would not talk. They handcuffed him and found bags containing a white substance. He swore at the deputies and would not get into the patrol car until he was pushed. On the way to the jail, the man spit on the partition and continued to swear at the deputies.
• Burglary — A deputy was dispatched to Dee Lane in Hinesville in reference to a burglary. The complainant said that his residence was broken into between 5-9 p.m. by someone who pried open the back door.
A laptop, printer, two watches and a dresser drawer containing important paperwork were missing. The neighbors reported recently seeing a man ride down the road at high speed on a four-wheeler.
July 15
• Illegal dumping — A Townsend man called a deputy after 16 tires were dumped on his Hinesville property. The complainant reported that this has happened three or four times.
July 16
• Entering automobile — A deputy responded to East Daryl Lane after a man noticed $300 missing from his car. He saw a white Chevrolet Avalanche drive off just before he checked his car.
• Theft by taking – misdemeanor, financial-transaction-card fraud — A Hinesville woman returned July 16 to her residence on Old Sunbury Road to find several items missing, $439 charged to her debit card and her car damaged. She reported that her son is the only person who knows her PIN number, and she had not seen him since she returned home.
July 17
• Theft by taking – misdemeanor — A deputy responded to the Hinesville Day Spa in reference to theft. An employee came into the business that morning to find the alarm system not activated and the back door open. She reported that $375 was missing. The complainant was unable to contact the employee who had closed the night before. She said she would let the business owner know about the incident.
July 18
• Entering automobile — A Glennville man parked his vehicle in the back parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express and discovered it had been broken into the following day. He reported his black backpack missing. Video surveillance showed a suspicious person walking around the parking lot, but it was too dark to identify faces or vehicles.
• Theft by taking – misdemeanor — A deputy was dispatched to Hollywood Drive in Hinesville in reference to a theft. The complainant said sometime between 10 a.m. July 14 and 7 p.m. July 18, her lawnmower was stolen from her backyard. The last time she saw it was July 14.
July 24
• Theft by taking – misdemeanor — A deputy responded to a reported theft at Billie Harris Point in Midway, where two air-conditioning units were missing. The complainant was a friend of the victim who supposedly witnessed someone steal the two units from the window. The victim was informed by the deputy over the phone.
July 25
• Burglary — A Midway man went to check on his boat at Half Moon Marina Boat Storage and noticed the radio from his boat missing. He last saw it in the boat July 21. The radio mount was on the ground inside the storage building at the marina. The deputy noticed fingerprints on the mount and collected them as evidence.
July 27
• Damage to property — A deputy was dispatched to Wells Road in Hinesville regarding a reported hit-and-run. The complainant was at a party when someone told her that her car had been hit by a black pickup. The complainant’s car was dented on the passenger-side door, which also was streaked with white paint. The front bumper also was dented and streaked with white and yellow paint.
• Possession of marijuana — A deputy observed a vehicle traveling north on Talmadge Road whose tag revealed no valid insurance coverage. When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated toward Highway 84.
Eventually, the car turned into a driveway off Carter Road, and the driver fled into the woods. A passenger remained in the vehicle and told the deputy he did not know the driver too well.
Inside the car, the deputy found blunts and a shot glass containing marijuana. The deputy also found the driver’s wallet, which contained his driver’s license and Social Security card. The vehicle was towed, and the passenger was transported to jail.
