Aug. 8: Peeping tom — A 40-year-old Riceboro woman told a deputy she was lying on her bed around 1:30 p.m. when she saw a man looking at her through the window. When the man realized she saw him, she said he ran toward the front of the house and road. She told the deputy the man was wearing a black hat and brown shirt. The deputy searched the area but did not see anyone of that description.

Aug. 13
Purchase/possession of controlled synthetic substance; speeding in excess of maximum speed limit — A 19-year-old Ludowici man was stopped on Highway 196 East near Rogers Pasture Road after he was clocked at 71 mph in a 55-mph zone.
When the deputy approached the driver’s window, the young man said the window would not roll down, so he was told to open the door. As he did, the deputy noticed a green, leafy substance on the door.
He told the driver he stopped him for speeding. The driver said he was “zoned out” and not paying attention. He was just trying to get home. After a narcotics officer arrived to assist, the driver was arrested for speeding and possession of a controlled substance, spice.

Aug. 20
Burglary — Someone kicked and forced their way through the back doors of Mount Olivet Church in Fleming, damaging the door frame and stealing a 42-inch flat-screen TV. The alleged thieves also went into a back bedroom area, where they took a 36-inch television as well as two gold watches and military medals.
