Aug. 23: Entering automobile — Deputies responded to the Days Inn in Flemington after a guest reported that her purse was stolen from her vehicle while she was in her hotel room. The hotel manager reportedly found the bag near the guest’s hotel room. Surveillance video indicated that a guest in a nearby room had taken the bag.

Aug. 25: DUI — A Fort Stewart resident was arrested for DUI at Memorial Drive and Highway 84 shortly after midnight. The driver reportedly exceeded the 45 mph speed limit, made an illegal turn and weaved before the deputy pulled him over. A test showed positive for alcohol in his system, and he reportedly admitted he had been drinking.

DUI — A Hinesville resident was arrested for DUI on Highway 38 in Flemington between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m. after she was reportedly clocked driving 70 in a 45 zone. The driver reportedly had a suspended license and outstanding warrant through HPD and the Vadolsta Police Department. Her blood alcohol level registered as a .107 in the field and .116 and .115 at the Liberty County Jail. She was issued three citations and placed in jail.

Aggravated assault — A Midway man was arrested for aggravated assault and a woman for hindering law enforcement officers after they responded to reports of shots fired on Wild Heron Drive around 9:30 p.m. The complainants said that the man arrested and another man pulled up to their residence and began yelling at them and inciting a fight. The man reportedly jumped out of the vehicle, aimed a black handgun at the complainants and fired a shot. The responding deputy found a .40 caliber bullet casing where the truck sped off and spun its tires in the dirt road. The deputy followed the tire tracks to another property, where the truck and man who fired shots were located. The man’s wife reportedly told several different versions of the story and evaded the deputy as he tried to locate the other male who was in the truck. The couple was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail. The third party and gun were not located at the time of the report.
