Twenty-two 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team soldiers and one Army civilian training on Fort Stewart's Donovan Field experienced a lightning strike at about 4:35 p.m. Sunday.
"They weren't directly struck, they were in tents," post spokesman Kevin Larson said. He said it is not sure whether lightning struck the tents housing tactical operations or the ground nearby.
All 22 soldiers were taken to Winn Army Community Hospital for observation.
"No one lost consciousness," Larson said.
Nineteen of the soldiers were treated and released, three were kept for "further observation," and one was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, according to Larson. He added the lightning damaged some equipment, including several computers.
"The (installation's) primary focus in on taking care of people," Larson said.
