LUDOWICI — GeoComm is starting to contact Long County residents to update telephone company database records, Karl Larsen, a GIS specialist for the company, told the Long County E-911 Committee at its Nov. 25 meeting.
“An important part of the conversion process involves updating these telephone records,” Larsen said. “We will be contacting residents of the county to corroborate or clarify resident information as it pertains to the E-911 system.”
He added, “The information that we gather will be considered confidential and its distribution is restricted to only those parties involved in the E-911 process”.
Larson also said database technicians would be contacting the people between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
If any person has any concerns or questions about this process or with providing the information over the phone, they can call Long County Clerk, Mary Ann Odum at 545-2143.
Also reported at the meeting was that, 2,500 Windstream records have been initially matched to approximately 46 percent.  In addition to this the 1,200 Coastal Communications records have been matched to approximately 63 percent.  The overall match for the telephone/address information for the project as a whole is at 50 percent.
The next E-911 meeting was scheduled for Jan. 10 at 2 p.m.
