Carl Evans Swain, 41, of Jasper, Ala., is being held as part of an investigation into a death on Fort Stewart last week, according to a release from the FBI’s Birmingham office. Swain, who was arrested Friday, will be extradited from Birmingham to Savannah by the end of this week. Special Agent Stephen Emmett with the FBI’s Atlanta office wouldn’t say whether Swain’s arrest was in connection with the body of a 22-year-old soldier found Nov. 30 at Holbrook Recreation Area campsite.
