A Long County man was rushed to a Savannah hospital Friday night after he was stabbed during a reported altercation in the backyard of a home on Izzard Road.
Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles said his deputies responded to the reported stabbing at 6:40 p.m. They discovered that one of the two men involved in the altercation reportedly had stabbed the other in his torso.
The victim was treated by first responders at the scene and then transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah by ambulance. He said that the wound was serious, but from initial indications did not appear to be life-threatening. Nobles said the alleged assailant left the residence after the altercation and had not been located as of Friday night.
Nobles said information on the connection between the two men and the circumstances leading up to the altercation is not available because the incident still us under investigation.
Although other people were at the residence at the time, no one seems to have witnessed the altercation. Nobles said investigators still need to interview both men before any other information can be released.
