LUDOWICI — The Grinch may have tried to steal Christmas, but one Ludowici man probably succeeded when he allegedly stole from his mother over Christmas.
Timothy Wayne Register, 37, is now in jail.
According to Ludowici Police Investigator Sal Genualdi, Register was pulled over by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department on Jan. 9, it was discovered he was allegedly driving with a suspended license.
Register, who was already out on bond on 21 counts of financial transactions card fraud (illegally using someone else’s credit card), was arrested.
And then on Jan. 12, Register’s 59-year-old mother, reported to the Ludowici PD that her son had taken her checkbook and written 15 checks for cash to himself. In all, she said, he wrote nearly $700 on checks between Dec. 22 and 28, forging her name.
After an investigation by the LPD, a warrant was issued and it was served on Register last Wednesday as he sat in jail.
According Genualdi, on top of Register’s other charges, he now will be charged with 15 counts of deposit account fraud and 15 counts of forgery, a felony.
Register currently is residing at the Liberty County Regional Jail.
