A visiting Massachusetts woman who was working as a nanny in Allenhurst was arrested Monday and charged with several counts of child molestation.

According to an incident report filed by Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brian Barnes, who responded to a report of an alleged burglary on Retriever Way, a neighbor who saw a male in the backyard of a nearby home called 911.

Barnes arrived at the house where nanny Jenica Smith was staying and interviewed the woman, who told the detective that everything was fine because she knew the 13-year-old boy. Smith told Barnes she had just gotten out of the shower when she saw the teen by the window. She told the detective she instructed the teen to leave but did not call police. She said the boy had watched her before.

Barnes said he became suspicious and interviewed the teen outside. The boy told Barnes that Smith had asked him to come by and watch her shower. He also reportedly told the detective that he and six other 13- and 14-year-old boys had been sexually involved with Smith.

Smith reportedly later confessed to having sexual relations with the teenagers.

Barnes said Smith has been denied bond and has been charged with four counts of aggravated child molestation and three counts of statutory rape. She currently is being housed in the Liberty County Regional Jail in Hinesville. None of the children in Smith’s care were harmed.
