Kelli Morningstar, Midway’s part-time police officer, was named chief of the one-person department Monday.
Midway Mayor Don Emmons said, “We felt she was most deserving and will do a great job.”
Morningstar will be attending classes for certification as a chief next month.
Morningstar was hired by Chief Jerry Ramos shortly before he resigned at short notice last month.
