Officials investigate fires in Hinesville

Hinesville Fire Department officials are investigating several area fires that broke out in the past few days. The fires were in the vicinity of the Terrell Mill Pond fire but were not a result of that fire.

The Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate a fire at 1125 Kelly Drive, lot 217, in Happy Acres Mobile Home Park, which occurred July 30. Its findings and the Hinesville Fire Department’s findings ruled out the Terrell Mill Pond fire as a potential cause. The exact cause still is under investigation.

A woods fire broke out on Hollywood Drive on July 30, and a shed fire ignited at 937 Hollywood Drive on Aug. 1. The Terrell Mill Pond fire was ruled out as a potential cause of both of those fires as well.

“We want to make sure the word gets out that these structure fires are not a result of the Terrell Mill Pond Fire,” Hinesville Fire Department Capt. Kris Johanson said. “We are still investigating.”

Anyone with information on these fires should call 876-4143 and ask for Capt. Rick Perryman, Hinesville Fire Department fire marshal.
