Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes on Monday promoted Deputies Jason Colvin and Matthew Marchand to the rank of corporal.

Sikes said the promotions were well-deserved, adding that both men are excellent examples of long-term employees who have worked their way up the ranks through countless hours of hard work in serving the community.

LCSO Chief Deputy Keith Moran introduced the deputies, saying Marchand started in 2002 and Colvin in ’05. Both started their service with the LCSO as jailers.

Sikes went on to thank the Liberty County Board of Commissioners for their support of the sheriff’s office promotion system, which has reduced the turnover of employees and, in turn, saves taxpayer funding.
