A Sunday morning accident on South Main Street at Eunice Road temporarily closed the street after a 2004 Lexus RX flipped over and ended up in a ditch, knocking down a tree, around 9:30 a.m.

Hinesville Police Department Traffic accident investigator Cpl. Les Patton said the driver was identified as Billy Foster of Hinesville.

Foster was driving toward West Gen. Sceiven Way when, according to witnesses, the vehicle veered into the opposite lane without braking  and flipped, Patton said.

When the vehicle struck a tree, which fell across South Main Street, temporarily closing the road. Foster was able to leave the vehicle.

He was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening. He faces a charge of driving with a suspended license. Patton added that the vehicle was not registered to Foster.  The accident is under investigation.
