The body of a Fort Stewart Soldier was recovered Saturday night by installation emergency services from a recreational pond here after receiving a call from fishermen who witnessed the soldier falling into the water.
A  news release from post Public Affairs Office said the fishermen were unsuccessful in attempts to assist.
The soldier was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m. The soldier's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
An investigation into the death is underway, the release said.
