LUDOWICI -- According to Ludowici Police Chief Richard Robertson, at about 8 this morning a student was hit by a vehicle as the child was crossing McDonald Street in front of the board of education office.

"From what one witness told us, the child apparently ran out in front of the car, and was hit; at this point it doesn't appear that the driver was at fault, but everything is still under investigation", said Robertson.

Long County EMS took the student, who has not been identified, to Wayne County Memorial Hospital. Condition of the student was not known, but the student was conscious as he was being loaded into the ambulance.

Robertson said that the Georgia State Patrol would handle the investigation
