RICHMOND HILL -- The investigation into the alleged abduction of Melinda Poole by ex-boyfriend James Randall Myers has now changed in nature, according to the Richmond Hill Police Department.

“The investigation is shifting from the alleged abduction of Melinda Sue Poole to an ongoing criminal investigation of both parties,” an RHPD press release said. “Information discovered during the investigation leads us to believe that she is with Mr. Myers of her own free will.”

Det. Dana Strickland said they obtained a video surveillance from a motel in the Daytona Beach area showing Myers and Poole together several times.

“None of the scenes appear to show Ms. Poole in any stage of duress or physical dangers,” the release said. “We are still investigating the aggravated assault and warrants are still out on Mr. Myers.”

Strickland sadi the investigation was till ongoing Thursday afternoon.

‘This is an active investigation,” he said. “We’re not sure Ms. Poole is involved. We have no hard evidence at this time, but we are looking into it.”

Poole was reported missing Feb. 23.

Based on video footage from a security camera, Myers appeared to force Poole into his Chevy Tahoe at a Richmond Hill motel on Saturday morning.
