Two women were injured in a head-on collision Friday in Hinesville.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Andrew Cheney, the accident happened around 3 p.m. east of Elm Road on Highway 196.
Cheney, who declined to identify the drivers, said a 53-year-old Glennville resident driving a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutless was going east on 196 when she crossed into the westbound lane, hitting a 2004 Mustang with an Indiana tag driven by a 31-year-old woman who may currently be living in Ludowici.
Cheney said investigators don’t know why the woman crossed into on coming traffic. “It maybe several days before I can interview her since she has undergone surgery for her injuries,” he said.
According to the trooper, both women were extracted from their vehicles and flown by Life Star to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Both women are listed in fair condition.
