A woman was stabbed and seriously injured during a domestic dispute between roommates in Walthourville, police said.
The suspect, Asha Gamble, is in custody, Walthourville police Chief Bernie Quarterman said.
She was charged with aggravated assault under the Domestic Violence Act and cruelty to children.
Quarterman said the victim, La Shonmonique Dajanee Ricks, a disabled former soldier, was stabbed once in the upper right thigh following a physical altercation with another woman shortly after 5:30 p.m.
A child was in the residence at the time of the stabbing.
Clothing and personal items were strewn outside the mobile home in Glenbrook Village mobile home park on Dunlevie Road. A pool of blood could be seen on the steps where the woman was waiting for authorities to arrive.
Quarterman said Gamble admitted to stabbing Ricks, saying "she did not mean to hurt her," Quarterman said.
Ricks was transported to Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart.
