Ribbon cutting celebrates Walmart grand reopening

The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the grand reopening of Walmart Neighborhood Market #4525 on Friday, May 27, at 1422 W. Oglethorpe, Suite A, in Hinesville.

Jimmy Shanken, board chair of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed those in attendance and spoke about being thankful for the positive change this location is bringing to the community.

Karl Riles, District 5 councilmember for the City of Hinesville, expressed his gratitude and excitement for this Walmart Neighborhood Market in his district.

“Seeing all three Walmart locations on this road make us feel like we are a real city,” he said.

Friends, family and supporters of one of Liberty County’s giants in civil rights got a glimpse at the honor that will stand on the courthouse grounds. The bust of Ralph Waldo Quarterman, which will be part of a statue built to honor him, was unveiled Friday afternoon at the Liberty County Courthouse Annex.
