Riles appears as runoff winner

Karl Riles appears to have won the runoff election held Tuesday for the District 5 seat on the Hinesville City Council.

He received a total of 192 votes, or 51.20 percent, according to Liberty County Election Supervisor Ella Golden.

His opponent, Bobby Ryon, garnered a total of 183 votes, or 48.80 percent.

Election results showed Riles received 76 votes the day of the runoff, no absentee ballots and 116 advanced-in-person votes. Ryon tallied 43 votes on Tuesday, 43 absentee ballots and 97 advanced-in-person votes.

All results are considered incomplete and unofficial until certified by the state.
