ATLANTA — GeorgiaForward has selected Desiree Riley as one of 50 professionals statewide to serve in its 2026 Young Gamechangers program.

Young Gamechangers is a leadership and action initiative that brings together emerging leaders from across Georgia to address real-world challenges in one host community. In 2026, Hinesville and Liberty County will serve as the host community.

Local leaders have identified four “Challenge Questions” for the cohort to address over eight months: improving educational quality, strengthening vibrant communities, reducing poverty, and expanding entrepreneurial pathways. Participants will develop specific, actionable recommendations for the Hinesville-Liberty County community.

“Each Young Gamechangers cohort represents the future of leadership in Georgia,” said GeorgiaForward Board Chair Amir Farokhi. “This class brings together talented professionals committed to strengthening communities across our state. We look forward to seeing the meaningful solutions they develop.”

Riley serves as chief operating officer of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she leads strategy, operations, and community-focused initiatives. A former instructor in Georgia Southern University’s First-Year Writing Program, she brings a strong background in leadership, communication, and program development. Riley holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Georgia Southern University and is actively involved in several local leadership and civic organizations.

“I am beyond excited for this opportunity, especially since I’m representing Liberty County,” Riley said. “To be part of such an intelligent and creative group is an honor. I can’t wait to begin this journey in April.”

“Hosting the Young Gamechangers cohort is an exciting opportunity for Hinesville,” said Mayor Karl Riles. “This collaboration will help us evaluate challenges, identify solutions, and strengthen our vision for the future.”

The 2026 cohort will first meet in Hinesville April 22–24, with their work culminating in a public presentation of recommendations on October 29.
