The Regional Industry Support Enterprise (RISE), in partnership with Savannah Technical College, hosted the Building Your Future Career and College Showcase. This regional event brought together high school seniors from Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties to meet regional industrial employers and higher education institutions with the intent of assisting the students with developing a plan for what they will do after graduating from high school.
“We had a great response from our regional industrial employers,” said RISE President and CEO Anna Chafin. “It was good to see these employers with quality available job opportunities embrace the idea of pursuing job-seekers about to graduate from high school. We were also glad to have multiple higher education institutions present at the event so students had access to those resources in case they are interested in furthering their education after high school.”
More than 20 employers participated in the event, representing the counties of all four participating school districts. Additionally, Georgia Southern University, Savannah State University, Ogeechee Technical College and Savannah Technical College had resource tables where students could learn about the various programs available at these schools. As an additional service for participating students, WorkSource Coastal was on site with volunteers providing resume-writing and printing assistance for students who needed to update their resumes or print additional copies.
To further support participating students, on-site volunteers from WorkSource Coastal provided resume-writing and printing assistance, ensuring students had the tools they needed to make a lasting impression on potential employers.
“At Savannah Technical College, our mission is to empower students with practical, career-focused education that paves the way for long-term success,” said Dr. Ryan W. Foley, president of Savannah Technical College. “Our participation in impactful events like the RISE initiative underscores our dedication to economic development and hands-on training for today’s high-demand jobs.”

Lunch was provided for volunteers and the employer and higher education institution representatives by AT& T.
