Mardee Sanchez of Richmond Hill was recently appointed to represent Bryan County on the Coastal Soil and Water Conservation District. She will serve the Conservation District for a two-year term.

Sanchez relocated to Coastal Georgia in August 2019, after having spent most of her life in New England. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor of science in civil engineering, Sanchez spent five years working for private engineering consulting firms in Boston before moving to Vermont to raise her family. In 1996, Mardee Sanchez to professional life, becoming the town engineer and zoning administrator for the Town of Randolph, VT, positions she held for 24 years.

During her tenure in Vermont, Sanchez was appointed to the Vermont Water Resources Board by then Governor Howard Dean. She also served as zoning administrator for the Town of Braintree, VT; chairperson of the planning commission for the Town of Brookfield, VT; and as tree warden, sewage officer, and emergency 911 coordinator for the Town of Randolph.

She is currently the engineering director for the Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission.

The Coastal Soil and Water Conservation District is a unit of state government that directs natural resource management programs in Bryan, Chatham, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties. The district works with farmers, landowners, homeowners, and with other units of government to educate and actively promote programs and practices that support the conservation, and use and development of soil, water, and related resources.
