Scott’s All Stars Leadership and Mentor Program recently held its second session, an impactful day dedicated to leadership, community service planning, and interactive workshops, hosted at the Liberty County Career Academy. The session engaged both mentors and students in discussions, activities, and hands-on project planning, all designed to cultivate effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to community service.
The day began with a warm welcome from Dr. Marcus Scott, lead facilitator, who introduced the day’s objectives and led an icebreaker activity, True Colors, to foster group interaction. Dr. Scott’s introduction set the stage for an inspiring session as he discussed leadership during his presentation. Marcus Scott V emphasized critical skills in teamwork and communication and had an activity designed for students to develop leadership qualities.
Later in the session, students engaged with guest speakers Dexter Newby, Justin Frasier, Donita Strickland, and Kendra Ivy, who shared stories and insights from their leadership journeys. The Q& A session that followed provided students with real-world perspectives and professional growth strategies, making it a highly impactful part of the day.
The session concluded with team-based planning for community service projects, where each team worked to identify and perform their capstone project. Led by Mrs. Langley, the planning session emphasized leadership, responsibility, and collaboration. Dr. Scott closed the session with key takeaways, questions, and concerns, encouraging students to continue developing their leadership skills through community service, Black history, and leadership projects outside of the program.
Organizers extended gratitude to all lead facilitators who helped make the day memorable: Dr. Marcus Scott, Elisia Scott, Marcus Scott V, Lonnie Fayson, Melissa Langley, Lorraine Bowers, Debra Frazier, Eureka Mulkey, and Varina Moser. They also offered special thanks to food partner, Newman Catering, for providing lunch.
Scott’s All Stars Leadership and Mentor Program will hold its next session on November 23, virtually, with topics covering College and Scholarships and Financial Literacy.
