A tense 4-hour standoff ended peacefully Sunday morning when authorities were able to arrest a Long County man following a domestic dispute.

According to Long County Sheriff's Office investigator Earl Freeman, Sean Hager, 26, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on his girlfriend at their home on Huckleberry Lane.

Freeman said deputies were called to the home around 11 p.m. Saturday on a domestic dispute call.

When deputies arrived the woman who had allegedly been threatened with a knife managed to exit the mobile home safely with the help of deputies.

Once the woman left, Freeman said Hafer barricaded himself in the residence and refused to acknowledge the command of law enforcement officers to leave the residence. A warrant was obtained to enter the home, according to Freeman. Over the course of 4 hours, authorities commanded Hafer to give up.

Shortly after 2 a.m., a team of officers from the Liberty County Sheriff's Office SWAT team breached the front door. The officers announced they were going to enter the residence when Hafer exited the home and gave himself up.
