SAVANNAH — Police in Savannah say they've arrested a man accused of setting fire to a pile of his wife's clothes and then head-butting two police officers.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police say 48-year-old Elmer Cuevas is also accused of threatening to burn patrol cars and kill the officers who responded to his home shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say the officers found Cuevas burning his wife's clothing in the back yard.

Police say Cuevas was charged with terroristic threats and acts, arson and two counts of battery on a police officer. Chatham County Jail records do not indicate whether Cuevas has an attorney.

Police said that Cuevas is a Savannah Fire Department Captain.
