State to sell rehabilitated horses

The Georgia Department of Agriculture will auction about 22 horses that were impounded in poor condition and nursed back to good health.
We want to get these healthy horses good homes so that they can continue to thrive, said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin.
The auction, set for noon Saturday in Decatur, is being held at the department's equine Decatur Impound Facility at 2394 Wildcat Road. The facility is near the Georgia State University athletic fields in south DeKalb County.
Beginning at 10 a.m., on auction day, buyers can inspect the horses that will be sold.

Some of the horses scheduled for sale include:
• Rosemary & Rosebud, a 7-year-old bay and white Paint mare, with her 3-month-old bay & white colt
• Arthur, a 4-year-old palomino Quarter Horse gelding
• Lance, a 5-year-old chestnut Quarter Horse gelding
• Tristan, a 13-year-old chestnut Quarter Horse gelding
• Percy, a 10-year-old sorrel roan Appaloosa gelding
• Saphron, a 5-year-old black and white Paint gelding
• Sage, a 1-year-old bay and white Paint gelding
• Pinkey, a 1-year-old sorrel and white Paint mare
• Mary, an 18-year-old chestnut Quarter Horse X mare
• Claudia, a 1-year-old black Quarter Horse X mare
• Clinton, a 15-year-old black roan Quarter Horse X gelding
• Shooter, a 4-year-old bay Quarter Horse X mare
• Slammer, a 12-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse X mare
vHaley, a 3-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse TB X gelding
• Eclispe, 4-year-old black Quarter Horse mare
• Flare, 20-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse mare
• Astra, 1-year-old bay Quarter Horse mare
• Galaxy, 1-year-old buckskin Quarter Horse mare
• St. Paddy, 10-year-old Palomino Paint mare
• Ireland, 20-year-old buckskin Quarter Horse mare
