Storms that swept into West Georgia this morning are expected to make it to the Coast this evening.

At this point, officiials are not  sure how bad the storms will be when the arrive, but the forecast out of the National Weather Service's Jacksonville office says the thunderstorms, which are expected to start this afternoon could be severe by the evening. Winds could be damaging.

More than an inch of rain is expected.

The service 's Peachtree City office issued a tornado watch in extreme west Georgia this morning as the bad of storms moved in from Alabama. And the storms were expected to move to the southeast across the state during the day.

It was to be in the Macon-Athens area by about noon. and Stephen Konarik, a meteorologist with the Weather Service said the storms could be as bad as last week's that caused millions of dollars in damage in North Georgia.
