The teenager wanted in connection with an October 6 fatal shooting has turned himself in, law enforcement authorities said.
Jarousha Houston, 17, turned himself in at the Liberty County Jail shortly before 4 p.m. Monday. He was sought by Hinesville police after an October 6 shooting claimed the life of Alexander Johnson, 30, at an apartment off West 15th Street.
Houston is being charged with aggravated assault and one count of homicide.
Hinesville Police Department officers responded just after 8 p.m. on October 6 to 1300 Independence Place on reports of shots fired and of a gunshot victim.
Officers discovered the victim, identified as Alexander Jamal Johnson, 30, of Hinesville, and administered emergency life-saving efforts, Chief Tracey Howard said, but were unsuccessful.
Johnson did not live at the address but knew someone who lived there.
The HPD’s preliminary investigation shows the shooting happened over a disagreement over music, but they cannot confirm that is what led to the shooting.
“We know the two individuals knew each other,” the chief said.
An autopsy was performed on Johnson, who suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the chest and leg.
