A Long County teen died Thursday from injuries he received in a four-wheeler wreck on Rye Patch Road, according to authorities.
The sheriff’s department responded to the call at about 4:30 p.m.
When Deputy Jimmy Middleton and EMS units arrived on the scene, they found 15-year-old Jarod Wagner unconscious after he had been  thrown from his ATV.
EMS personnel transported the teen to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where he died at about 8 p.m.
According to Georgia State Patrol Operator Ray Howard, the teen had been riding in a ditch along the south side of Rye Patch Road, and lost control of the ATV.
Howard said the teen was apparently traveling too fast when he hit a small “ramp-like” bump and lost control of the ATV.
He noted the youth wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
The incident took place six-tenths of a mile from Darwell Long Road.
