According to Walthourville Fire Department Chief Nick Maxwell, a house fire has left two adults and a child temporarily displaced.

“The Walthourville Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Phinela Lane,” Maxwell said in a release. “Units from Liberty County and Walthourville responded to the initial dispatch and arrived on scene within minutes to find fire blowing from the inside of the house through the back porch. Firefighters from the WFD began attacking the fire while a second team from Liberty County began a search of the home for additional occupants.”

Fire damage was limited to the room and back porch, although the rest of the home was heavily damaged by smoke, Maxwell added.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family. School supplies which were damaged in the fire will be replaced by the Walthourville Fire Department school supply closet.
