Lamar Tillman has been named the Tattnall Missionary Baptist Association (TMBA) 2018 Layman of the Year. The announcement was made at the association’s annual Lay Day Service held Oc. 28 in Hagan, Ga.

TMBA Layman president James Jones said that Tillman was selected because of his loyalty and dedication to his church, district and the Laymen Ministry.

Tillman, who is the chairman of the Deacon Ministry at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ludowici, is also the president of the Laymen Movement in the First District.

Humbled by the award, Tillman stated that, “In everything that I do, it’s not about me but all about Jesus.”

Tillman spent 22 working for Liberty County and retired from his job as a road construction project manager.
