UPDATE: Several people were injured last Friday morning in a two vehicle accident on Pineridge Road, which is off Airport Road, in Hinesville. Traffic was diverted from the area until the injured were transported for medical care and investigators began their investigation of the accident scene.

According to Hinesville Fire Department Capt. Robert Kitchings, two adults and one child had to be transported to area hospitals. Authorities later said one victim was taken to Winn Army Community Hospital and another to Memorial in Savannah. One individual had to be extricated from a Nissan pickup, Kitchings told the Courier. The extrication took some time as a paramedic had to treat the trapped victim as firefighters worked to free the individual from the wrecked vehicle, he said.
