Liberty County prides itself on investing in the development of its residents. Leadership Liberty is a nine-month adult leadership program for those who live, work or desire to make positive change in Liberty County. If you’re eager to become a community leader and contribute to a better future for all residents, then this program is perfect for you!

What is Leadership Liberty?

The program focuses on developing future and current leaders in our community. Participants can expect to gain a deeper understanding of Liberty County and its various parts.

The class meets at least once per month with each session focusing on different community functions. These could include: Local Government, State Government, Public Health, Public Education, Tourism, Economic Development and others. Each session also will focus on a different component of leadership, such as communication, group decision making and strategic partnerships, to name a few.

Who can apply?

If you live, work, or desire to have a positive impact on the community, this program is for you! We encourage applicants to apply regardless of age, race, gender or profession. Our goal is to provide you with the tools you’ll need to be an impactful leader in all that you do.

However, the selection process is highly specific as we seek to develop established, promising and potential community leaders.

• You can apply starting now.

• No applications will be accepted after close of business August 30.

• There will be a maximum of 15 spaces available. Participants will be selected by a panel of their peers.

How much does it cost?

Tuition for Leadership Liberty is $1,000 for the entire course and includes all overnight accommodations, food and transportation to Atlanta. Since its inception with the 2004-2005 class, Leadership Liberty has graduated approximately 150 participants who either live or work in Liberty County. These participants have garnered knowledge from various sectors of the community and taken part in the leadership modules provided by the Fanning Institute of Leadership at the University of Georgia.

Community Giveback

Program participants are tasked with creating and executing a class project every year. This project allows prospective leaders to apply their newly gained leadership skills in the real world. Past projects and partnerships have included:

• Sleep In Heavenly Peace Build Day

• Kiwanis Club of Liberty County Jail & Bail

• United Way of Coastal Empire-Liberty County’s Backpack Buddies

A Message for Future Leadership Liberty Applicants

“I strongly encourage our business leaders to participate in this program to build better relationships between the business community and our local government. I believe it is very valuable to learn how local government and other entities work and the challenges a growing community like Liberty County faces. Leadership Liberty can provide great insight on the job our elected officials have to do and how important non-governmental organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce are to the success of our county,” said Liberty County Chamber/CVB President and CEO Leah Poole.
