Marne Palooza, an annual back to-school bash and informational event for soldiers and their families assigned to Fort Stewart, was held July 26 in Newman Gym.

The event featured local vendors of interest to the Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield community including recreational and cultural activities, restaurants and businesses. Local school representatives were also present with information, and there was music, games, prizes and food, and plenty of fun activities for children preparing for the upcoming school year.

Cara Bates, MWR special events coordinator, said they had roughly 70 vendors at the event, and she expected 1,500 visitors. She said visitors had the opportunity to learn about all the valuable resources available to them.

“I think it is super important for all of our families, whether you’ve been here for 10 years or one year. You don’t know what you don’t know,” she said. “So, this is a great event to show everything we have to offer. I’ve worked for the Army for 10 years, and there are some people here I never even heard of.”

She said military spouses often might not be aware of the resources available to them and said more information can be found online at https:// stewarthunter.armymwr. com/
